We Want You (To Apply By Oct. 26th)!
UCSC Farm Searching for New Operations Manager

Dear Friends of the UCSC Farm and Garden,

We have a job opening posted for the "Farm and Gardens Operations Manager Position" at the UC Santa Cruz Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems. When our Farm Manager Jim Leap retired in June, we posted a job announcement for a temporary Farm Facilities Manager, but then decided to wait on this hire until this fall when we could fill the job permanently. The new job posting, titled the Farm and Gardens Operations Manager Position, includes a new job description and other details that can be viewed by clicking on this link.

With this current job posting, we are looking for an overall operations manager for the Farm and Garden facilities. The Farm and Gardens Operations Manager will coordinate and lead education, training, and research at the farm and gardens, and oversee the maintenance of the farms and gardens equipment and facilities. Our Farm Field Production Manager Liz Milazzo continues to do a masterful job running our organic production and CSA marketing from the farm fields. This summer we hired an excellent Assistant Facilities Manager, a position that will be ongoing.

Applicants need to apply by October 26th to ensure they get considered in the first pool of applications (only if there are not suitable candidates in the first pool will later applications be considered). We hope to have someone hired by January.

The basic information is as follows:
Job # 1002772
Job Title: Farm and Gardens Operations Manager: Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems
Initial Review Date: 10-27-2010 (On this date the applications will start being considered. If a good batch of candidates come in by this date, then likely no more applications will be reviewed).

If you have questions after reviewing the job description online, please contact Jonathon Landeck at jlandeck@ucsc.edu, 831.459-4540.
