The Greenhorns at Pie Ranch Oct. 28th

There will be a Young and Beginning Farmer Mixer on October 28th hosted by The Greenhorns at Pie Ranch, the farm of 1994 apprentice Jered Lawson and 1997 apprentice Nancy Vail. It's a free mixer with live music, local food and drink, workshops, information resources, and networking. "The Greenhorns" documentary film will also screen in preview form. For more information, please see the poster below and see the press release for a list of other Greenhorn events on the west coast. For more information, contact the Greenhorn event coordinator You can also visit The Greenhorns' other website to add your farm or project to their map of young and beginning farmers across the country.

The Greenhorns documentary film, now in post-production, explores the lives of America's young farming community - its spirit, practices, and needs. It is the filmmaker's hope that by broadcasting the stories and voices of these young farmers, they can build the case for those considering a career in agriculture - to embolden them, to entice them, and to recruit them into farming.

The production of The Greenhorns is part of a grassroots nonprofit's larger campaign for agricultural reform.  View the movie trailer here.
